Reviews

Malta is a magnificent country, Valletta is gorgeous, Senglea has a "home away from home" atmosphere, but the top of it all was the stay at Sally Port Senglea house… The roof terrace and the view directly towards Valletta, the Three cities, the yacht marina and the serene sea is astonishing...

- Ivan, Sofia

I still cannot believe how apartment's owner can influence amazing holidays. She not only always was checking if we needed anything, but also she provided the highest customer care. I have never seen in any self catering apartments/guest houses that owner would show so much customer care. In addition, to stay in Sally port is the best choice if you want to see community and real maltese life. You can easily reach other places, such as Valleta or other cities

- Etylivod, United Kingdom

What a find! How fortunate we were to have found this super place. Just what we wanted: discreet honey coloured building set within historic traditional area.

- Habbers, United Kingdom

At Sally Port Senglea, You can stay like living in Malta. You can sleep in silence, you can wake up in silent morning and you can drink beer with great sea view of opposite shore of Valletta on the roof top

- Yukin, Japan

Her place is perfect for anyone who wants to get a feel for Malta (you are most definitely not in a tourist resort) and live more like a local. It is not a place to go if you want music, clubs, crowds, etc.

- Ireland

This is a beautifully refurbished and stylish guest house, and the owner couldn't have been more accommodating and friendly… A walk around The Three Cities starting from the guest house is easy, with lots of interesting sights, even including the industrial docklands to one side of Senglea.

- Kaz, United Kingdom

If you are thinking about booking Sally Port Senglea do it now before they are fully booked or you will be missing the best place to stay In Valletta.

- Andrea, United Kingdom

Upstairs there is a spotless big communal kitchen with an adjoining rooftop terrace with wonderful views across the harbour to Valletta or Birgu.

- Dawlish

- Denis, France

Everything was perfect. We felt so comfortable and the staff was very helpful all the time providing us with all the information that we needed to enjoy our stay in Malta. The view from the penthouse is stunning, we loved to see the sunrises and sunsets from there. We highly recommend the place

- Dos Santos, Ireland

Great location, wonderfully helpful host, fantastic views from the roof terrace - a genuinely superb find.

- Farmery

Liliana is especially kind and attentive. She made our stay easy and comfortable by providing us with plenty of information about the whole island and the different things to do/visit. She is always available in case you need anything and prompt to solve out any inconvenience you may have. The house is lovely and it has an amazing and peaceful terrace with incredible views. We had a real wonderful stay.
Tips for other travellers The cruises either around Malta or any other are worth to bear in mind for they offer you the possibility of having a different perspective of the island. As for the local restaurants, we followed Liliana's wise advice and we were satisfied.

- Camarero, Spain

Beautifully restored building with fantastic views of the Grand Harbour from the rooftop terrace!
Tips for other travellers Senglea waterfront is great at night, good mix of locals and tourists with lots of restaurants to choose from.

- Taylor, United Kingdom

A great location with the best view over the Grand Harbour across to Valetta. Room very comfortable and clean. We felt well looked after.

- Morgan, United Kingdom

SallyPort Senglea is one of the most beautiful accomodation places in Malta. The landlady is the most hospitable person that i have met. I definetely recommend this place to other travellers.

- Tzortzatou, Greece

Helpful owners, beautiful place. My single room was a bit small, but perfectly adequate. The other rooms for two seemed much larger. Besides, it is the common area on the top that is the place to be for your stay. The pictures on the website are an accurate reflection of the beauty of the setting.
Tips for other travellers Beautiful older historic neighborhood with easy access to the Grand Harbor and Valletta. Fairly residential, catering to locals rather than tourists, and this includes the restaurants opposite Fort St Angelo.

- Williams, United States

Great accommodations to be able to stay in one of the oldest and most authentic neighborhoods in Malta. Excellent restaurants within easy walking distance, and all that Valletta has to offer just a 5 minute ferry ride away.
Magnificent rooftop Terrace with amazing views of Fort St Angelo and Valletta.

- Nicole

The location of the flat is in Senglea or Isla. It is in a residential area with a few convenience shop, market, and main bus station in a 5 minute walking distance. The view of Valetta and Birgu are stunning from the common area. You could find no other place to have a better meal with a view than from the balcony of this location. You will want to stay and look at the view than leave and explore the city.  The staff is very kind and accommodating. A real connection with Malta will be made here and most likely a reason to return again and again.
Tips for other travellers Bus line 1 takes you to Valetta. From Valetta main station you can take a bus to anywhere on the island. There is a ferry withing 15 minutes walking to Valetta. There are a few restaurants and a guide with the recommendations in the flat. The common area is well equipped if you decide to have a nice dinner or share some wine with other guests.

- Riedel

Outstanding location and an excellent place to stay if you want to explore Valletta and environs without staying in a hotel. You can self-cater easily and the communal area with its kitchen and terrace are just what you need. Liliana is thoughtful and attentive and dealt with any minor issues we had speedily.

- Clements, United Kingdom

I received a warm welcome in this amazing place. The bedroom is elegant with a Maltese style and the terrass is wonderful. Thank you Liliana to be here for your guests at any time.
Tips for other travellers La Valette with taxi bout 3 cities

- Dubois

Wonderful location. Tastful and comfortable accommodation. Helpful and kind hospitality.
Tips for other travellers To dine: Tal-Petut and Osteria Ve in Birgu, Fully's Fusion Kitchen in Senglea, Tartarun in Marsakloxx. To do: stroll trough the back streets of La Valletta and the Three Cities, take the ferry between the Three Cities and La Valletta, walk around Fort St. Elmo in La Valletta, take a small boat to the Blue Grotto (true, touristy, but fun to do) To visit: St. John's Co-Cathedral in La Valletta, Palazzo Falson in Mdina, catacombes in Rabat

- van Daal

We loved the location, which is really central but also very quiet and peaceful. I especially liked taking the water taxi each day to Valetta.  Suzi was really helpful with all her advice and her recommendations of places to eat were great.
Tips for other travellers We found it really easy to get around using the public buses.  We particularly liked Mdina, Lascales War Rooms and swimming near the Blue Grotto. Our favourite snack place was Museum Cafe beside Tourist information and a glass of wine at Rocks wine bar down a quiet street.

- Symington, United Kingdom

Location only a problem if you have any form of limited mobility - steps everywhere ! Very caring attention from the owners, nothing too much trouble. Fantastic roof terrace.
Tips for other travellers No 1 bus the nearest form of public transport - quite a hike to the ferry. Most little shops close from noon until 4pm, and off season many restaurants do not open for lunch except at weekends.

- Matthews

Very well organized accomodation and very helpful staff.the best location in Malta.you feel that time stopped in 16th century
Tips for other travellers nice local restaurants at Senglea promenade

- Papantoniou, Greece

Fantastic location, the view from the terrace is to die for,we cant imagine that there is a better one. A warm welcome supplied with all information from Cynthia was an excellent start to our stay. Our room with its mini kitchen was great.Lovely to meet Susie later who is a revelation for one so young. This is a must stay for the three cities.Liliana has done a grand job here.
Tips for other travellers If travellers cant find anything to do here then its pointless being on holiday. then again one could always spend all of the time on the terrace with a Cisk and just soak up the view.

- Kavana, United Kingdom

The location is fantastic and the views from the roof terrace must be among the best in Malta. We liked the cooperative style of the living arrangements eg sharing the upstairs kitchen and roof area - we met some very nice people.

- Eady, United Kingdom

Nothing more could have been done to make our stay more pleasurable. We were met at the airport on arrival and transferred directly to the accommodation. We were accommodated in a beautiful room on arrival with access to a spectacular roof top communal area with wonderful views over the harbour. We were given lots of help by Suzy concerning places to visit and transport info. All in all it was a really lovely place to stay !
Tips for other travellers We found it more convenient to use the water taxis available at the snack bar kiosks at the Quay side rather than walk all the way to the main ferry over the bridge.

- Kelly, United Kingdom

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this beautiful, fabulously located residence. The high-ceilinged rooms are comfortable and well equipped but the star of the show is the modern terrace and shared kitchen area with stunning views overlooking the harbour to Valetta. Would undoubtedly return and recommend.
Tips for other travellers There are four equally good restaurants within walking distance along the Senglia harbour front. Really no need to venture any further.  The best beach we found was called 'Riviera' to the north but if you hire a car be warned that the road signage is challenging. For example, Riviera is not marked as such but under the name of Għajn Tuffieħa. In fact local towns and villages are given prominence at roundabouts over some final destinations and it is easy to get lost. Best to ask Liliana, the endlessly helpful and charming owner, for the signs to follow before you set out.

- Charman, United Kingdom

This apartment is one of 4 in the same house, with complete privacy and separate facilities. It was very clean, quiet and comfortable. It was interesting to note the good level of finishings and amenities in the house. The communal rooftop deck with the living area have one of the most beautiful views on the island.
Thank you Liliana for the hospitality.

- Falzon

From the time of our arrival through to our departure we felt privileged to be in the company of warm and genuinely friendly Maltese folk. All were concerned that our stay should be as enjoyable as possible: the chatty driver who collected us from the airport, the greeting by Liliana, the staff in the recommended restaurants, local people in the street. Valetta and the Three Cities are magical places to visit. Sally Port Senglea is quite simply - very special.
Tips for other travellers Don't bother with a car, use the buses and ferries; follow the recommendations in the apartment for restaurants and places to see - avoid starters the main courses are huge; the local shop may be small but has everything that is needed for a good breakfast and simple meal and the shopkeeper and his wife are very helpful and friendly.

- Lansley, United Kingdom

The location is by far one of the outstanding features of this guest house. The attention to detail, greeting the guest, providing taxi service, having a coffee/tea for the morning. The best of the best is the view each morning when you get to sit on the patio.

- Folken, United States

SallyPort is the ideal accommodation for visiting the historic areas around Valletta, providing an interesting and attractive alternative experience than the more usual tourist experience in the resort areas. Such a warm welcome and all comforts considered, we felt more like a visitor than a tourist. An attractive room and comfortable bed with the added bonus of a kitchenette in the room that is very welcome for a cuppa or snack. However the biggest attraction is undoubtedly the stylish upper lounge/kitchen/dining area and terrace with fabulous views of the historic three cities, overlooking the harbour and Valletta, especially dramatic when floodlit at night.
Tips for other travellers Do take advantage of the lounge area and share a drink or chat with fellow guests or just soak up the views and history around you. Walk along the harbour, enjoy a coffee or a meal in one of the cafes on the waterfront and take the ferry into Valletta. The bus is also very easy and just a short walk from SallyPort. But probably not suitable for those who find walking difficult.

- Rivers, United Kingdom

Could not have been more helpful, even when we locked ourselves out late at night a happy smiling chamber maid came out to let us in. Essentials in our fridge, TV with loads of channels. View from terrace superb
Tips for other travellers Plenty to see on Malta, water taxi close and easy only one euro fifty. 7 day bus pass 21 euro's busses new and air conditioned. We were very lucky we went 8th Oct and saw a boat show, a candle light festival, which was beautiful and I got loads of christmas presents, and the Medina classic car grand prix all in one week. Best food - Malta only country we have visited who make a great cup of Tea. Perfect.

- Hall

Our welcome was excellent and The owner couldn't do enough to ensure we had a comfortable stay. Everyone we meet were friendly and helpful. We wouldn't hesitate to book the apartments again if we return to Malta on holiday. Thank you for making it a wonderful visit.
Tips for other travellers The traditional boats across to Valleta. all the food in the Sengela area was good.Recommend hiring a car (200 euros for 10 days) but only for confident drivers! Walk through the back Streets of Vittorisa. The Dingli cliffs. Catch the ferry to Gozo and watch the sunset over the Azure window(great for snorkelling)

- Wade, United Kingdom

Such a beautiful location right by the water! A beautiful scenic view all around everywhere you look. There is so much history surrounding you here, it takes you back to another time. It is very easy to get around via a pleasant water taxi ride and also a bus terminal once you get off the ferry that can take you anywhere you want to go. Liliana was so helpful and accommodating, I give this place and Liliana as the host my highest recommendation!
Tips for other travellers I recommend going to Valetta city center and just walking all around. Get lost and go in all directions, there is so much to see and hear. For the younger people I'd recommend St. Julians for the nightlife, it's crazy in the best way possible.

- Rawal, United States

What a wonderful place, located in a lovely area of the city. Easy access to Valletta, with unbelievable views from the shared roof terrace.
Tips for other travellers Walk around the Three Cities area in the evening - you don't need to go into Valletta. Plenty of places to eat, mostly used by locals. Beautiful when lit up at night. They have recently spent a lot of money on the dock area here and it is truly splendid.

- Farrall, United Kingdom

Liliana si a great and kind person, she come more than once during our stay to check if everything was ok...
The room are nice, clean and the terrace on the top floor is the best viewpoint that we had in all Malta... Having breakfast there was unbelievable...
Cannot suggest enough this place!
Thanks Liliana!

- Conti, Italy

Very friendly reception and welcome.  Beautiful view from the terrace overlooking the port of Senglea. Nicely decorated appartment with new furniture/shower.
Tips for other travellers Enchanté restaurant is very good. Maritime museum and inquisitors palace in Vittoriosa is a must! Taking a real góndola to Valletta is also a beautiful experience. The Archeological museum in Valletta is one of the best. Top restaurants recommended by locals are: La Giarra (Sicilian), Soul food (ayurvedic), La Sfoglia (tuna steak!), Trabuxu (wine bar).

- Cools, Belgium

Very good location!!! The guest house has a spacious terrace with amazing view to Valletta and Grand Harbour! Clean comfortable rooms, pleasant and friendly atmosphere. Very good and cozy apartments!

- Khrustalev

If you want to immerse yourself in the Maltese life, this is the place to stay. A lovely old traditional Maltese house, restored to a very good standard, but with a modern rooftop kitchen/dining room opening out onto a terrace with the most amazing views of the Grand Harbour and Valetta. Liliana is warm and friendly. Would not hesitate to recommend Sally Port

- Peake, United Kingdom

Senglea was perfect. Calm and beautiful location with easy access to Valletta. The BnB was adorable and designed with great taste. The owner was wonderful and I definitely want to go back to Malta one day, and stay at Sally Port.
Tips for other travellers Senglea looks like it has cross streets on Google maps, but they're definitely walking paths and stairs! Ferry to Valletta was so easy and the restaurants in Senglea were tasty and local (filled with families). Great spot!

- James, United States

This was a fantastic venue. Comfortable, clean, quiet and good value for money. Liliana was very accommodating.
It has a wonderful terrace with stunning views of Valletta, great for having an aperitif prior to heading out for dinner, or a night cap after.
Furthermore, it has the capacity for self catering in a very comfortable manner.

- Holland, United Kingdom

the house was brilliant and an excellent location, good sleep, good shower and close by good food. Stunning terrace with full vista over the grand harbour. Watch the sailing boats, cruise ships and super yachts come and go,in the area there nobody pushing you buy or come in and eat.

- Wilson, United Kingdom

From the moment Liliana greeted us at the front door everything was wonderful. The apartment was spotlessly clean, the most comfortable bed imaginable other than at home, excellent pillows and just everything we could ask for. We normally stay in hotels and the relaxed atmosphere and facilities at Sally Port made our week very special. We just loved the roof terrace and kitchen - views I never wanted to stop looking at.
Tips for other travellers Only one sort of word of warning for travellers who are not too able bodied and that is the huge number of steps up from the waterfront. We both came home fitter than on arrival. Most of the restaurants along the waterfront were good - tasty food, wine list, charming staff. Monday nights are a little difficult because many restaurants are closed but possibly once high season is here that will change. One I would not recommend because of unhelpful staff was Target. The water taxis are excellent making access to Valletta an easy experience, also the lift near to the Barrakka. Good ferry service to Sleima too. Vittoriosa is a must to visit.

- Fryer, United Kingdom

All the luxury and style of a hotel combined with the freedom of a self-catering apartment.
Tips for other travellers Great location to return to after a long day, as the bus terminates just down the street - so even in the dark you can find your way home! The waterfront has a great range of places to eat and drink, and the ferry runs frequently to Valletta across the beautiful Grand Harbour. There are also local shops nearby for creating your own meals in the wonderful rooftop kitchen and then dining on the terrace.

- Wright, United Kingdom

What a great place to stay! Fantastic location, amazing view from the top. Liliana was a fantastic host. We had a late check in so Liliana provided us a complimentary breakfast. She met us next morning to give us helpful tips for our stay. We hope we'll be back again soon!
Tips for other travellers The Watertaxi is very handy, you can get a weekly ticket for 10 Euro and also use the lift to Valletta which is great. Enchante is a lovely restaurant with great staff and fantastic sea food. Don't miss the fishing market in Masaxlokk on sundays. There's a great buzz. If you don't want to drive it's good to join one of the hop on hop off buses. The local buses are also very handy, cheap and frequent.

- Werner, Ireland

Sally Port is truly a first class destination, and without doubt one of the top luxurious boutique guest town houses we have had the privilege of frequenting in Malta.  Sally Port is beautifully renovated, and furnished with meticulous attention to detail to meet the requirements of discerning guests. The views from the Great Siege Lounge are breathtaking.  Our rooms were serviced daily, including Christmas Day and New Year's Day; what a spoil!  The proud owners and friendly staff of Sally Port went out of their way to ensure that all our needs were catered for. A home away from home, we had a wonderful time and it was difficult to leave. Thank you Liliana and Michael for sharing your beautiful boutique guest town house and for your warm and gracious hospitality.
Tips for other travellers Senglea (Isla) one of the oldest cities in Malta, has been declared a destination of excellence by the European Commission and is defined as one of the jewels of the Maltese islands, adorning the island with heritage and character. With breathtaking views from every angle, in Senglea you are afforded the opportunity to mix with the fascinating Maltese local culture.  There are many excellent waterfront restaurants and historical tourist attractions to choose from and visitors are spoilt for choice.

Emplacement idylique, dans un quartier très calme, en façe de la Vallette

- Kuznyetsova

Excellent place to stay, quiet and beautifully situated .
Magnifique et accueil très charmant.

- Duvelle, France

Wonderful place in old Senglea with an unbeatable view from the roof terrace towards Valletta and Vittoriosa. If you like to stay in a more quiet area, away from the very touristy places like Sliema, that's the place to go.
Tips for other travellers Just wander around in Senglea and Vittoriosa and you will find what you need

- Krippner

A wonderful and hospitable hostess, Liliana Mifsud truly shows the maltese qualities of making guests comfortable. The rooms are tastefully furnished and beds are comfortable - everything works - showers, airco and to top it all a complete kitchenette fitted into a cupboard!
Tips for other travellers Make sure you have good walking shoes as quite a lot of stairs in the city to walk up and down - however this is a good way of losing the extra calories gained through the good food. Try il - Barkelor down by the harbour - really good fresh fish with local tomato sauce. The ferry boat gets you to Valetta in a few minutes journey while enjoying the views. Certainly a place to come back to and definitely find time to enjoy the views from the top terrace of the house.

- Spiteri

Wonderful location, with a helpful and friendly host this property makes an excellent centre to discover the whole of Malta and especially the city of Vlalletta. The top terrace with its views across the harbour are simply stunning.

- Crane, United Kingdom

Quiet location with a splendid view from the roof common room and terrace. Very helpful staff. Thanks so much Liliana! Looking forward to the next time!

- Spenser

The accomodation is very comfortable. The owner is both charming and helpful. In fact she collected us from the airport and then took us down a road that I used to live in a very long time ago to see if we could find the house I used to live in! The roof terrace is a knock out! Nothing else could describe it and the views across the harbour.

- Fairbalm

The owner Liliana is an amazing host and really knows her job, all the best and just keep going like that!
